Fuck L Magazine

Them and their too cool for school mentality, goddam bastards. Their most recent sports issue was seriously lacking and purposefully I believe (the soccer section...come on). Fuck them recommending the same 6 places every Best Of New York issue. We get it, these places are your friends, they give you free things and you feel obligated to destroy your integrity by sucking them off every chance you get. That's all I had really. There is still love for our little pocket sized friends. Just those few things bothering me. Lmag's recent recommendation of Huckleberry(the bar), not that I have been there....sounds on point. Look for some synergy between Huckleberry(the bar)and Huqleberry(the site) in the upcoming months.

Contempt (1964)

Writ. Moravia/Dir. Godard

A rather unknown French writer named Paul Javal is hired to rewrite Fritz Lang's(himself) screen adaptation of Ulysses by an Amercian over-the-top, asshole producer Jeremy Prokosch (Jack Palance). The plot develops when Prokosch meets Javal's wife and shortly thereafter not so subtley hints that he will pay for play with Bardot. Bardot is hip to the scheme and turns on her husband (hence the title). She quickly falls out of love leaves our anti-hero broken. Tragic ending. Great colors. All on location in Rome and Capri. Get out of your house and go watch it at the Film Forum there until April 22. In French/Italian/English with subtitles.
