Fallen Behind

In an industry driven by sneakivity [sneaker + creativity], skate shoe companies [typically the ones lagging] nip at the heels of the big dog in an attempt to get some crumbs from last season's table. In this case, Fallen, who laces up hammerheads Jamie Thomas, Billy Marks, and Tommy Sandoval, mercilessly rips Supra on two shoes:

Suprano

Trooper

On the first rip, Fallen claws at the stripes from Jim Greco's pro model, the Suprano, and slaps them on their Trooper model, one of Fallen's top cookie-cutter silhouettes. Besides being a ten-down one-up attempt, the only major difference is Fallen claims the stripes as "tiger". Fallen's prowl continues...

Skytop

Chief Mid

For Jamie Thomas' Chief Mid pro model, Fallen takes the shoe that launched Supra to infinity and beyond--Chad Muska's Skytop--and bites the Croc detail. Fallen's a little late on this flop. This shoe dropped in Supra's Summer line. And just off the top of my head, could this be a Jamie Thomas vs Chad Muska market showdown? Ha! Please.

Even though Fallen's upcoming Ride the Sky will be a bone-crushing skate vid [I can't wait 'til it comes out], Jamie Thomas' "skate or die" mentality will never outshine Chad Muska's "shades or die" image. Most kids don't even know who Chad Muska is, yet their closet collection keeps piling higher and higher as Supra drops a new color of the Skytop each week. In today's generation, image outweighs individuality, and unfortunately for a lot of passionate skateboarders, a "core" attitude doesn't sell shoes.

Fallen is the most skate-forward shoe company out there, but Supra, especially after witnessing their Spring '09 Collection, will be running the skate game for a while. Besides, their team is just STACKED. Jim Greco is a trip--just check his hilarious interview HERE and him causing ruckus HERE.
