Leonid Meteor Shower

I just wonder if it will be viewable in New York (City bitches).  How can I answer this question?  Just a quick Google/Oogle away

Weekend recap.  Friday the weather was bleak and set the tone for The Dead Weather concert at Terminal 5.  It was musty, foggy, and was reminiscent of being in a cadaver laboratory.  Yes, I have been in a cadaver lab.  Yes, I have played with the insides of a human being.  Yes, I did enjoy it.  It’s all very lovely.

The show was nothing short of spectacular.  I loved it.  My neck hurts.  My only qualm was, once again, the lack of movement by the crowd.  Dance motherfuckers. Dance.  You don’t even have to dance, just tap a foot or something.  A lot of patrons were just dead but after awhile it didn’t matter because Alison Mosshart and Jack White shredded the stage to bits’n’ pieces.

No comment on the rest of the weekend that has yet to end.  I have a couple note cards filled with, you guessed it, notes that are reminiscent of the folding back cover of MAD magazine.  Remember those?

Last evening I viewed The Friends of Eddie Coyle.  Ballin’ on the 1970’s gritty-crime film circuit.

Biking and Dash Snow

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

There were talks, dreams, and quizzical attempts at biking across the United States this summer.  After making a vow to bike everywhere, weather permitting, last Friday I realized that crossing America wouldn’t be as easy as I thought.

I’m not saying I couldn’t accomplish the task.  I’m just saying it would take me a hell of a long time.  My bike would chase down the sun and my time as a studious 23 year old would dwindle down… quickly.  Did I mention I have the knees of a 72 year old?

I registered for summer classes, Astronomy(?) and African Civilization (fuck yeah), at Hunter College.  For a month I’ll be commuting to and from school, four days a week.  Not accounting for other errands, that equals a minimum of roughly 10 miles a day.

There was a time when I strongly felt there was a possibility of biking for 100 miles a day.  That notion has been thrown over the Pulaski Bridge but it’s something to work toward.  So, that being said I plan on doing the New York Century in September. What the hell, maybe next summer I’ll pursue the Pacific.  Oh wait… No I won’t…

While sitting in class yesterday someone told me Dash Snow died.  Then they (Andrew Holt) sent me a picture of the Wikipedia entry.

A Day Well Spent

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I traveled to the city rather early in the morning and made a day out of Manhattan.  I hit all the hot spots; Times Square, Union, Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, SoHO, Madison Square Garden, Washington Square Park, Chinatown and Central Park.  Total blast OMFG LOL!!! LMAFO!!! BRB ATM DSL.

I wish I could visit all those places in one day.  Also, I don’t want to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all the acronyms I listed above.

standard hotel highline

After giving up on writing rather early, I remedied my disdain for the sweltering heat by drinking margaritas for lunch.  Then I finally walked along the newly opened Highline.  It was pleasant except for the new perspective it provided when viewing the henious glass buildings that are being erected along the West Side.  I never noticed how disgusting The Standard Hotel was until I strolled under it.

Blah Blah Blah.  Later on in the day I read about Chekov for awhile.  I watched Anthony Kedis shoot his foot in Point Break.  Stopping by a bar on my way home,  my friend told me how he was beaten up last night in the Bronx by a group of Mexicans.  They ran off with his phone.

At this very moment I’m listening to a Rachmaninoff record.  Why I feel the need to write this on a blog is simple… I have no friends and I’m struggling to transport my mind to Paris so I can reach a resolution to this goddamn story.

Seeing a pacifier on the pavement brings tears to my eyes.  A baby with nothing to suckle on; they pass their time between milking sessions with silicone stuck between their gums.  When that little trinket falls onto a dirty sidewalk what is a baby to do?  What about the children?  It’s all so disturbing.  Tragic.

Although it could a brainstorming session for band names.  Pavement Pacifiers/Dirty Pacifiers/Dalai Lama/Silicone Sidewalk/Pretty Pacifiers/The Pacifiers/Dirty Sidewalk Pacifier/etc.
